Collaboration with countries around the world. Acne Studios’ third street-level store in Japan.

We were in charge of the design work and project management as a local architect in the construction of the third street-level Acne Studios store in Japan, a fashion brand founded in Stockholm, Sweden. Thanks to close collaboration among five countries including Barcelona, Spain for the master design, Paris, France for the lighting design, Stockholm, Sweden for the custom-made carpet, Shanghai, China for hardware, furniture and fixtures, and Tokyo, Japan for the design work and project management carried out by our company, a modern and sophisticated store was successfully completed through global communication transcending borders and cultures. The interior is comprised of 8mm-thick solid stainless steel partitions. The brand’s signature color, grey, is expressed using materials with different textures. Due to significant loads imposed on the structure, it was necessary to solve the floor load capacity problem through structural calculations. In addition, in order to expose the ceiling and show the rough textures, we were required to install new mechanical smoke exhaust devices. It was important for all parties involved to understand a different culture in order to achieve a sophisticated design. We successfully completed a store representing a well-honed concept through a series of thorough discussions.
